TITANIC THREADS

At last the Lucraft Titanic connection has gone public! 

Mary South, grand daughter of Winifred Lucraft, has written the book about the family involvement with the tragedy. Titanic Threads tells Winifred’s story from her roots in Broadclyst, Devon, the move to Southampton, marriage to ship’s steward Fred Simmons, her widowhood and subsequent support by the Titanic Relief Fund. The plight of other Titanic widows is compared to her own situation. 

The book places Winifred’s life within the context of the changing social history around her, touching on the First and Second World Wars and how these too affected her life.
